What is your main area(s) of interest/expertise?

I’m a biomedical engineer and founder of Oxford Mechanobiology. We apply solid mechanics modelling and in situ experimental techniques to the study of living materials to enable faster, more effective diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of connective tissue disease. 

What are you working on right now?

Rapidly deployable ventilator for Covid19 - https://oxvent.org The UK urgently needs to increase ventilator numbers by 10,000s. Conventional ventilator manufacture in UK has historically been at around 2,000 per year. A step change is required.

Why is Oxford a good place to work in this field of research?

Connections and networks across disciplines allow precisely the right team to be brought together extremely rapidly. Also the University is agile and responsive at making funding and resources available when required.
