What makes Oxford such a good place to work in AI?

Oxford provides a highly interdisciplinary environment that lets us draw on expertise from many fields. We can use our expertise not only to develop new AI and machine learning approaches, but also to apply them directly to problems with genuine societal value.

What is the biggest opportunity or challenge in AI?

AI and machine learning rely on data to produce results. We need high-quality, unbiased data to produce good results, but we also need to apply these tools in their broader context. AI has strengths and weaknesses, and can only work at its best when we ask the right questions. Many important problems need both quantitative data and human, contextual understanding to resolve. If we try to restrict our problems only to those that can be solved conveniently with AI, we risk asking poor questions and getting poor outcomes.
