Supporting machines to efficiently and robustly learn to act and interact in the real world.

What makes Oxford such a good place to work in AI?

The AI ecosystem in Oxford is staggering. It spans the full spectrum, from world-class biology via computer science to applied AI in areas such as robotics. What a place to work!

What is the biggest opportunity or challenge in AI?

Embodiment – the notion of a real robot acting and interacting in the physical world – comes with a number of challenges and opportunities beyond those frequently found in other areas of AI. These include a need for real-time operation and data-efficient learning, as well as effective introspection and the development of creative approaches to problem solving. There is so much to be done here.
