Professor Ling-Pei Ho is Associate Professor in Respiratory Immunology at the MRC Human Immunology Unit, WIMM; a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine and Chair of UK NIHR Respiratory Translational Research Collaboration Network.

What is your main area(s) of interest/expertise?

Immune mechanisms of lung injury and fibrosis.

Mechanism of disease and management of sarcoidosis.

What are you working on right now?

My main contribution during COVID is in therapeutic drug development and immune response in patients with severe COVID. I have been heavily involved in leading and coordinating the national efforts in setting up Phase 1 and 2 platform trials for new drugs to treat COVID lung disease.  Since the start of the pandemic, I have been directly involved in getting 4 drugs into clinical trials, with one national multi-centred phase 2 study in nebulised type I interferon treatment due to complete any day now.

How myeloid cells influence lung fibrosis and alveolar regeneration.
